LPTA
Lowest Price Technically Acceptable
Definition
Lowest Price Technically Acceptable is a source selection process where award goes to the lowest-priced offeror whose proposal meets all technical requirements. Unlike best value, LPTA does not allow tradeoffs between price and technical merit—proposals either pass or fail technical evaluation.
LPTA is appropriate when requirements are well-defined and there is minimal value in exceeding minimum requirements. Contractors must price to win while ensuring their approach meets all stated criteria. LPTA creates strong price pressure and may favor firms with lower overhead structures or greater efficiency.
