IDIQ
Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity
Definition
An Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity contract is a contract vehicle that provides for an indefinite quantity of supplies or services during a fixed period, with deliveries or performance scheduled by placing orders (task orders or delivery orders) against the contract. IDIQ contracts establish ceiling amounts, hourly rates, or unit prices, but do not guarantee any minimum amount of work.
Agencies use IDIQs to streamline procurement when they cannot determine in advance the precise quantities or timing of their needs. Winning an IDIQ position means competing at the task order level for actual funded work. Multiple-award IDIQs create ongoing competition among contract holders, while single-award IDIQs direct all orders to one contractor.
